Century City Athletic Club Code of Conduct

1. Respect for All Members

  • Treat all club members with kindness, respect, and courtesy.
  • Support and encourage fellow runners regardless of their pace, experience level, or goals.

2. Inclusivity and Diversity

  • Welcome individuals of all backgrounds, ages, genders, and abilities.

  • While fostering a welcoming environment, all members should respect personal boundaries and privacy, ensuring that everyone feels comfortable and included on their own terms.
  • Make new members feel included and welcome at club runs by integrating them into the group, regardless of pace. Efforts will be made to ensure they learn the route and connect with fellow runners.

  • Foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected.

3. Safety First

  • Adhere to all traffic laws and running route regulations.
  • Run on designated paths or sidewalks and stay alert.
  • Inform others of hazards or obstacles on the route.
  • Wear appropriate clothing and gear for visibility and safety.
  • Where possible, run with a buddy or in a group.
  • Report any injuries or incidents to club leadership.

4. Punctuality and Reliability

  • Arrive on time for scheduled runs and events.
  • If you are unable to attend a committed session for an organised club event where attendance impacts planning, please communicate with club leaders.

5. Personal Responsibility

  • Maintain your own physical fitness and be mindful of your health limitations.
  • Carry necessary personal items, such as water, identification, and a phone.

6. Positive Attitude

  • Approach runs and events with enthusiasm and a positive mindset.
  • Encourage and celebrate the achievements of fellow members respectfully.
  • Be mindful of members’ privacy when sharing achievements, offering recognition, or posting about others’ accomplishments. Recognition and encouragement should always be considerate of individual preferences, ensuring members feel comfortable and valued in a way that aligns with their personal comfort levels.

7. Environmental Stewardship

  • Respect the environment by not littering and leaving no trace.
  • Follow the principle of “leave it better than you found it.”

8. Club Representation

  • Represent the club with integrity and sportsmanship during races and community events.
  • Wear the official club vest or t-shirt with black pants or shorts to race events, in line with the club dress code.
  • Respect all race rules, as well as the regulations set by WPA and ASA.
  • Treat race officials, marshals, and fellow participants with courtesy, and uphold the club’s reputation through positive conduct at all times.

9. Conflict Resolution

  • Address any conflicts or issues calmly and respectfully.
  • Seek assistance from club leaders if you need help resolving a dispute.

10. Participation and Engagement

  • Engage in club activities and volunteer opportunities whenever possible.

  • In the spirit of teamwork and giving back, club members are expected to help and volunteer a few times a year. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting with gazebo duty, marshaling, time-keeping, and supporting other club events.

11. Use of Social Media

  • Represent the club positively on social media and communication platforms.

  • Use club communication channels for running-related content such as race information, training tips, race photos, and member achievements.

  • When participating in club WhatsApp groups or any activity app (such as Strava, etc.), respect the privacy of fellow members. Avoid unsolicited private messages and obtain consent before initiating personal conversations. Keep discussions within the group and do not engage in direct messaging, harassment, or any form of unwanted contact.

  • Refrain from posting content of a political, religious, or controversial nature, as well as any content that may be divisive.

  • Be considerate when sharing images in WhatsApp groups or on social media. Ensure that photos are appropriate and that all individuals featured in them are comfortable being included. Do not post images of minors without the explicit consent of their parent or guardian.

  • Be considerate when sharing images in WhatsApp groups – post only a selection of your best photos, and use the ‘Team Century’ Facebook group for larger uploads.

12. Record Keeping & Admin

  • It is your responsibility to keep your club profiles up to date with correct contact information and ensure that all required forms and payments are submitted in a timely manner.

  • Failure to maintain accurate records and fulfil administrative requirements may result in your ASA license not being validated.

13. Adherence to Club Policies

  • By following this code of conduct, we ensure a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience for all members.
